The Seattle Art Fair took the headlines last week with a successful first edition. The inaugural fair boasted Gagosian, Pace, and David Zwirner among more than 60 galleries, but now the art crowd are leaving the rain for the Rockies. ArtAspen returns for its sixth edition this year from August 13 to 16.

Centre Pompidou Málaga

The Centre Pompidou, France’s national museum of modern art, has opened a satellite location in Málaga, Spain. It is the museum’s first location outside of France, and it opened in the same week as an outpost of the State Russian Museum in Málaga. Together, the two satellite museums are expected to attract 400,000 visitors to the Andalusian city that has quickly become established as a cultural destination.

R4, Île Seguin

In Boulogne-Billancourt, a western suburb of Paris, an island in the Seine is being developed into an “artistic micro-city” designed by Jean Nouvel. The project for Île Seguin will create artists’ studios, commercial gallery and auction spaces, an exhibition hall, and a conference center to transform the island into a modern cultural hub.
